Obituary for Donald Lee Bowden Jr.

Chatham — Donald L. Bowden, Jr., 72, walked through Heaven’s gates Monday, December 10, 2018 at home with family by his side.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Linda; his mother, Dorothy Bowden; his son, Clay Bowden; his daughter, Donna Perkins; his sisters, Kathy Sheffield and Carol Hodgin; three grandchildren, Clayton, Cody and Madison; and many extended family members and close friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Don Bowden, Sr. and his brothers, Bob Bowden and David Bowden.
Born and raised in Greensboro, NC, he is the eldest son of Don and Dorothy Bowden.
Don earned two Master’s degrees, one in Music Education, the other in Divinity which he utilized fully throughout his life. After serving several churches along the east coast, Don and Linda chose to settle in the Chatham community for the past 21 years. He not only performed ministry within the church, but also through higher education at Danville Community College for the later 20 years of life.
Don was a humble man with integrity and spiritual inspiration that God used as a discipleship among men.
Family visitation will begin at 1pm on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Mill Creek Community Church, 3688 Chalk Level Road, Chatham, VA. Following the visitation with the family, the Celebration of Life service will begin at 2pm.
