Obituary for Lois Adams Byrd


Lois Adams Byrd, age 68, of 249 Davis Rd. Chatham, VA, entered into rest on January 11, 2018 at her residence.

She was born on November 18, 1949, in Pittsylvania County, the daughter of the late Edsel Adams and Clara Hogan Adams, who survives. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Roy P. Byrd.

Lois was a member of Riceville Baptist Church and attended Chatham Baptist Church. She taught in Pittsylvania County Schools for 39 years. She loved her children and grandchildren and also spending time in her flower garden.

In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by one daughter, Mary Ann (Scott) Martin; one son, Aaron (Sarah) Byrd; one sister, Amie (Jimmy) Blanks; one brother, Dannie Adams; three grandchildren, Lily Claire Martin, Luc Byrd, and Tad Byrd; two nieces, Kimberly Adams, and Shelley (Matt) Hancox; three nephews, Daniel (Kimberly) Adams, Brandon (Jenny) Scruggs, and Alan (Michelle) Knight; three great-nephews, Tristen Graves, Aiden Adams, and Miles Hancox; four great-nieces, Faith Adams, Hope Adams, Sadie Hancox, and Reagan Scruggs; and two sisters-in-law, Nan (W.C.) Scruggs, Phyllis (David) Knight.

A memorial service will be conducted at Chatham Baptist Church on Monday January 15, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Dr. Charles Warnock III officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice.
