Obituary for Lawrence Dabney Brumfield


Lawrence Dabney Brumfield, age 78, of 765 Brumfield Rd. Keeling, entered into the arms of Jesus on December 20, 2017.

He was born on April 5, 1939 at the Dabney House in Java, VA, the son of the late Landon Lawrence Brumfield and the late Ruby Dixon Brumfield. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Duffey Brumfield, who he would have been married to for 37 years on Christmas Eve.

Dabney was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed. He was a member of Spring Garden Community Church and a former member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He served in the National Guard and worked in the tobacco business for 49 many years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer, and also loved gardening.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Kellye (Steve) Smith and Tammy Howerton; one step-daughter, Angela Norman; three grandchildren, Russ Smith, Kelsey Smith, and Aubrey Howerton; two step-grandchildren, and Dabney-Grace Duren and Danner-Faith Cibrian.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Billy Landon Brumfield.

Memorial services will be conducted at Scott Funeral Home on Saturday December 23, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Pastor John Meadows officiating.
